Netflix Adds My Hero Academia Films in India on May 15

Netflix is listing the My Hero Academia: Two Heroes film and the My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising film for release in India on May 15.

Netflix describes My Hero Academia: Two Heroes:

With Deku, All Might visits an old friend on the technologically advanced I-Island, when a gang of villains takes the whole city hostage.

The film premiered in India on February 12. The PVR Pictures distribution group screened the film in in theaters in Mumbai, Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region), Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, and Kochi.

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes opened in Japan in August 2018, and earned 500,320,000 yen (about US$4.49 million) in its first three days to rank #4 in its opening weekend. The movie has since earned more than 1.64 billion yen (about US$14.47 million) at the Japanese box office.

Original manga creator Kōhei Horikoshi is credited with the original work, character designs, and as chief supervisor. Returning staff members included director Kenji Nagasaki at BONES, scriptwriter Yousuke Kuroda, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, and composer Yuki Hayashi. TOHO distributed the film in Japan. Masaki Suda performed the film's theme song "Long Hope Philia." amazarashi's Hiromu Akita wrote and composed the piece.

Netflix describes My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising:

While putting their hero skills to use on the peaceful island of Nabu, the Class 1-A kids face a sudden attack from a formidable villain known as Nine.
The film premiered in India on March 12. The PVR Pictures distribution group screened the film in in theaters in Mumbai, Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region), Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, and Kochi.

The film opened in Japan in December 2019, and ranked at #3 in its opening weekend. The film has earned 1.5 billion yen (about US$14 million), and has sold more than 1.21 million tickets. The film's 4DX screenings began in January 2020 in 81 theaters in Japan.

As with the previous My Hero Academia: Two Heroes film, original manga creator Kōhei Horikoshi had overall supervision of the film, and handled the original character designs. Kenji Nagasaki and Yousuke Kuroda returned from the series and the previous film as the director and scriptwriter, respectively. Yoshihiko Umakoshi returned to design the characters, and Yuuki Hayashi once again composed the music. BONES animated the film. Rock band sumika performed the theme song "Higher Ground."

Horikoshi had previously teased that second film would be the last one for the franchise, as "there won't be a third film. Probably." He explained that the second film can be described as a kind of a finale for My Hero Academia. That is because its story uses one of the concepts he had wanted to use in the manga's final battle. As such, he proclaimed that the second film would be more "Plus Ultra" than even the first one.

A third film is in the works with a planned opening in Japan on August 6.
