1/5 Vash the stampede & Nicholas
From Trigun 
 When Vash the Stampede and nicholas meet in first at desert I think this was it he is main villian and he betrayed the stampede but however series continued I realised that he is main protagonist and become the best friend of stampede i think stampede never make his goal without nicholas, but main turning is when nicholas died with carried his dream and wanted to complete but he didn't as per he is also a great gun slinger but he didn't complete his dream when he alive.
 
2/5 Kakashi & Guy
From Naruto 
 As children, Kakashi and Might Guy took the entrance exam for Konoha's Ninja Academy. Kakashi and Guy can be seen walking next to each other as they leave with their entrance exam forms. Guy glances at Kakashi.

Hey there today i have some epic duo  1/5 Gon & killua From Hunter x Hunter   Gon and killua are the exceptions to this since Gon doesn't have any motivations to surpass killua and only want to find his dad and killua also has no motivation to surpass Gon.
